WHAT IS CRANIOBIOTIC TECNIQUE?
CranioBiotic Technique (CBT) is based on accepted principles of neurophysiology and is the culmination of Dr. Anthony Smith's 28 years of clinical experience and passionate research of many effective healing methods. "CBT uses gentle and effective Muscle Response Testing to obtain feedback from your body concerning the presence of any hidden 'health stressors' that may be causing your health problem(s). These stressors can include: allergies, infectious organisms, toxins, physiologic dysfunctions and nutrient deficiencies. Once a stressor has been revealed, your CBT practitioner can then relay this information to your brain. As soon as your brain accurately recognizes the stressor, it can then immediately begin to correct it." -Anthony Smith, DC
HOW DOES CBT WORK?
Traditional "treatments" for illness or allergies work to suppress symptoms, whereas CBT addresses the health stressors that may be causing your symptoms. The purpose of CBT is to enable your brain to recognize -and then correct-the underlying causes of your health problems, which can produce a natural resolution to your symptoms, and the restoration of optimal health and function. In the case of allergies, the brain is incorrecly "tagging" the allergy as a dangerous substance. In the case of infections and toxins, the brain is not "tagging" the infection or toxin as dangerous and does not properly mount an immune response to eliminate it from the body. CBT corrects how the brain improperly "tags" health stressors and teaches it to "tag" correctly.
WHAT TYPE OF ALLERGIES CAN CBT HELP WITH?
CBT is not recommended if you have a severe anaphylactic reaction. CBT can help with mild to moderate allergic reactions to things like metals, chemicals, molds, foods, airborne allergens such as dust, pet dander, pollen and much more. Sometimes people are surprised when CBT reveals an allergen that you didn't think you had. On a scale of 1 to 10, an allergic response has to be at least a 7 out of 10 to produce recognizable symptoms. So even if you don't have symptoms to an allergen, it is still causing stress, such as low grade chronic inflammation in your body. Chronic inflammation is currently recognized as contributing to most of today's chronic health conditions.
HOW ACCURATE IS THE MUSCLE RESPONSE TESTING UTILIZED IN CBT COMPARED TO FOOD SENSITIVITY TESTING OR FOOD ALLERGY TESTING?
There are many types of ways to test for allergies and sensitivities. Each testing method (whether Elisa, skin patch, provocation/neutralization, or other type) only looks at one way the body reacts to various substances. I do not believe science has uncovered every single way that the human body can be impacted by a substance, however, using Muscle Response Testing to determine if a substance weakens the body, was found to be as accurate at blood testing for substances when done on the same day, with the same margin for error that accredited CLIA laboratory testing provides. Comprehensive food sensitivity testing using blood samples costs around $350 and does not offer any "correction", whereas CBT gets to the "root" of the issue and corrects it.
HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE NEEDED FOR CBT TO WORK?
Usually one treatment is all that is needed. Your Comprehensive Evaluation & Corrections treatment includes a Re-Check to ensure that all corrections were successful at no additional cost to you. It is possible to get re-infected with an infectious substance again and therefore, would require a subsequent treatment for the new infection.
IS CBT COVERED BY INSURANCE?
Reimbursement codes used by insurance companies for office medical procedures do not exist for CBT at this time, therefore, CBT is not covered by insurance.
WHAT IS FUNCTIONAL NUTRITION?
As a dietitian trained in Functional Nutrition, Diana focuses on 3 tenents when serving you. The first is developing a therapeutic partnership, which means when Diana works with members, remaining open and vulnerable to the specific needs that arise as part of the healing process and working together to establish and maintain a spirit of collaboration and mutual respect, creates a space for healing to occur. Second, Diana uses Systems and Tools designed specifically to understand your unique, complex array of health advantages and disadvantages to gain insight into how and why your heath issues developed. Third, Diana's functional approach addresses the root causes of illness/disease/symptoms at the forefront of care with CBT. Diana uses CBT as shortcut to address the root causes and uses "Functional Nutrition" to help members create a lifestyle that supports their healing and sustained health.
HOW DOES CBT COMPLEMENT FUNCTIONAL NUTRITION?
Using a Functional Nutrition approach, we must first identify and remove the things that cause harm to the body's functions. Naturally this includes ridding the body of health stressors, such as allergens, toxins and infections. In a Functional Medicine or Functional Nutrition approach, lots of expensive lab testing is often used to identify the "roots of illness" and the treatments can take several months to years. CBT offers a shortcut to identify and correct the "roots of illness" so that more time can be spent rebuilding the body to its optimal state. If a building was on fire, you wouldn't just want to put out the fire out. You would want to clean up the debris and rebuild the building, while making improvements to the original design. Rebuilding and improving the function of your body is the goal of Functional Nutrition.
HOW DOES FUNCTIONAL NUTRITION DIFFER FROM TRADITIONAL NUTRITION ADVICE?
Diana worked in "conventional" medical institutions for 15 years before establishing Five Dimensions. Under the conventional model, the head of the healthcare team is the doctor who prescribes medication to treat the symptoms of disease and usually recommends that the patient lose weight and exercise and the dietitian or nutritionist facilitates this through focusing on behavior modification techniques for following a disease specific meal plan. On the other hand, Functional Nutrition recognizes that medications, while sometimes necessary, will not correct the body's imbalances and lead to health, however, therapeutic use of supplements and nutrients in a "food as medicine" approach, along with healthy habits such as getting good sleep, minimizing stress, increasing movement, and having a supportive network, all influences genetic expression and the body's ability to correct imbalances and restore health. Functional Nutrition also incorporates aspects of Chinese Medicine in a truly holistic approach to healthcare.
